Missing miner found dead in sack near Wadi Halfa

Security authorities in northern Sudan have found the body of a man in his twenties concealed inside a woven sack in a desert area near Wadi Halfa, according to local security sources.

The victim had been reported missing after travelling with several companions to mining areas on Monday. His overturned vehicle was later discovered in the desert before search teams located his body nearby.

The victim’s companions are suspected of involvement in the killing. They reportedly fled the area following the incident but were later arrested and returned to Wadi Halfa for questioning.

Authorities said criminal and legal procedures were underway as investigators sought to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and determine a possible motive.

The killing has shocked residents of Wadi Halfa, a city regarded by its inhabitants as relatively peaceful and where crimes of this nature are considered rare.

Officials have not disclosed whether the victim had previously been involved in a dispute with the suspects. The investigation remains ongoing.
