Senior Sudanese Armed Forces commander Yasser al-Atta has vowed to launch a major new offensive against the Rapid Support Forces, declaring that neither the UN Security Council nor the United Arab Emirates could halt the army’s operations.
Addressing a gathering of SAF reserve troops in western Omdurman, al-Atta said the coming days would witness large-scale military movements involving ground forces and air power.
“You will move, and your brothers will advance from several directions,” al-Atta told the recruits. “All the necessary capabilities are available. We will attack them from every direction, on the ground and from the air.”
Al-Atta claimed that multiple military columns would operate along each axis and said the skies would be “full,” apparently signalling an intensified campaign of air strikes.
“The Security Council will not be able to stop us, nor will the UAE or the conspiring countries in the region, because we are in the right,” he said.
The SAF commander also insisted that neither Sudan nor its army would collapse, claiming the military remained capable of defeating the RSF and protecting civilians.
Al-Atta accused the UAE of sponsoring terrorism and supporting the RSF—allegations Abu Dhabi has repeatedly denied.
His remarks signal a possible escalation in Sudan’s war and an open rejection of international pressure to halt military operations and pursue a negotiated settlement.
