Sudan Founding Alliance President Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has pledged to finance the university education of the ten highest-performing students in secondary school examinations administered by the TASIS-led Government of Peace.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan al-Taishi announced the commitment during a ceremony in Nyala marking the release of the 2026 Sudanese Certificate results.
Al-Taishi said Dagalo would cover the students’ university studies through graduation, whether they choose to enrol at institutions inside Sudan or abroad. He added that the students and their families would receive a separate official honour in recognition of their achievement.
The pledge followed the announcement that Yusra Hamid Adam Abdallah had placed first in the examinations with a score of 91.7 percent. Yusra completed her studies at Mohieddin Private Girls’ School in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur.
The results were announced after the completion of marking and verification by the Higher Technical Supervisory Committee. They represented the first secondary certificate examinations organised by the Government of Peace in areas under its administration.
TASIS officials presented the completion of the examinations as a significant achievement for students whose education had been interrupted by war, displacement and the prolonged closure or destruction of schools.
Large numbers of students across Darfur, Kordofan and other conflict-affected regions have lost several academic years since fighting erupted in April 2023. Many have also struggled with displacement, shortages of teachers and educational materials, and limited access to electricity and communications.
The government said Dagalo’s pledge was intended to ensure that financial constraints did not prevent the highest-performing students from continuing their education. It has not yet disclosed how the scholarships will be administered, which expenses they will cover or how overseas placements will be arranged.
The commitment covers all ten top-performing students until graduation, according to the official announcement.
