Sudan’s army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has reportedly presented Sudanese singer Atif al-Samani with a Jetour Dashing SUV in recognition of his public support for the military and his activities during the country’s ongoing civil war.
Al-Samani announced that he had received the vehicle as a personal gift from Burhan, who heads Sudan’s military and the Port Sudan-based administration, according to local Sudanese media reports published on Tuesday.
The gift reportedly acknowledges the singer’s decision to remain in Khartoum during the conflict, alongside his humanitarian initiatives and efforts to assist civilians affected by the fighting.
Al-Samani, a vocal supporter of Sudan’s military, has publicly expressed solidarity with the armed forces throughout the war.
In July 2024, Sudanese media reported that he performed for soldiers in Port Sudan while standing on a military vehicle, reflecting his longstanding public support for the army.
The singer expressed gratitude to Burhan for the gesture, saying the recognition carried greater symbolic significance than the vehicle’s monetary value.
He described the gift as an acknowledgment of his positions during the war and expressed hope that Sudan would eventually regain peace and stability.
The reports did not disclose the vehicle’s purchase price, whether it was financed personally by Burhan or through official funds, or whether the handover involved a formal government ceremony.
The gesture comes as Sudan continues to face a devastating humanitarian crisis following years of conflict, with widespread displacement, damaged infrastructure and severe economic hardship affecting millions of civilians.
The reported gift has drawn attention to the relationship between Sudan’s military leadership and prominent cultural figures who have publicly supported its wartime campaign.
