According to RIA news agency’s report on Sunday, Russia has expressed disinterest in prolonging the Black Sea grain deal, as stated by Russia’s agriculture minister Dmitry Patrushev.
Patrushev mentioned that the decision largely holds political implications. However, despite this stance, Russia intends to maintain its grain exports, as it continues to have a steady demand from buyers.
“Our grain export volumes, taking into account the winding down of the grain deal, have by no means fallen, they even slightly increased,” RIA quoted Patrushev as saying.
Russia withdrew from the agreement in July, which had enabled Ukraine to securely export grain from its Black Sea ports. The reasoning behind Russia’s departure from the deal was due to the lack of grain distribution to the neediest nations.
Additionally, Russia cited impediments in its own grain and fertilizer exports as contributing factors to this decision.
