Bus plunges into river in Ethiopia, killing 28, injuring dozens

At least 28 people lost their lives on Wednesday in southern Ethiopia when a public transport bus veered off the road and plunged into a river, according to media reports.

Inspector Wolde Biliso, who leads the Traffic Accident Prevention and Control Division at the Walayta Zone Police Department, informed state-owned Fana Broadcasting Corporate that 29 others were injured in the crash.

The bus, traveling from Walayta Sodo city to the Dauro zone, left the road and caused the deadly incident.

He confirmed that the crash took place around 1 p.m. local time in the Fatata district and cautioned that the death toll could rise due to the severity of some injuries.
