Egypt’s Ashraf Mahrous pulls heavier 279-ton train, sets new record

Egyptian strongman Ashraf Mahrous, known as Kabonga, set a new world record by pulling a 279-ton train in Cairo while fasting during Ramadan.

The feat took place at Ramses Station, where Kabonga dragged a locomotive and several carriages nearly 10 meters (33 feet) along the tracks.

A Guinness World Records committee and dozens of spectators witnessed the extraordinary display of strength.

Kabonga shattered his previous record of pulling a 221-ton train.

He told Anadolu Agency that he achieved multiple records over two consecutive days.

“On the first day, I pulled a two-ton cart for 107 meters in 37 seconds, then a one-ton cart for 100 meters in under 60 seconds,” he said.

“The next day, I pulled a 279-ton train with my shoulders for 10 meters and 66 centimeters.”

A renowned freestyle wrestler, Kabonga is famous for his feats of strength, often pulling massive vehicles.

With this latest achievement, he reaffirmed his place among the world’s strongest athletes.
