Hundreds protest cost of living crisis across Nigerian cities

Nigerian police used tear gas to disperse protesters in the capital, Abuja, as hundreds took to the streets to protest the rising cost of living and ongoing governance issues in Africa’s most populous nation, according to eyewitnesses.

Protesters in several Nigerian cities expressed their frustration with government reforms they argue have exacerbated the cost of living crisis.

To prevent potential violence, authorities have deployed armed security personnel. In Lagos, the country’s commercial hub, demonstrators marched toward the government house under heavy police surveillance before moving to the two designated protest locations.
