Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine shot and seriously injured

Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine was shot in the leg and seriously injured by security agents in a northern suburb of Kampala on Tuesday, according to his party, the National Unity Platform (NUP).

Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, has risen to prominence as the most formidable challenger to President Yoweri Museveni, who has ruled Uganda for nearly four decades.

“Security operatives have made an attempt on the life of President @HEBobiwine. He was shot in the leg and seriously injured,” the NUP stated in a post on the social media platform X.

Ugandan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango did not immediately respond to a request for comment from media.
