Algeria sees $10B Turkey trade target

Algeria has set its sights on raising its trade volume with Turkey to $10 billion, announced Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf on Monday.

The declaration came during the third meeting of the Turkey-Algeria Joint Planning Group, co-chaired by Attaf and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Algiers.

Attaf praised the strengthening ties between the two nations, crediting the momentum to directives from Presidents Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

He noted that bilateral trade reached a record $6 billion last year, calling it a milestone on the path to deeper economic collaboration.

The minister stressed that while progress is evident, removing remaining barriers will be key to realizing shared strategic ambitions.

He pointed to Algeria’s expanding investment landscape, highlighting opportunities in renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, and broader industrial cooperation.

Fidan echoed optimism during the meeting, reinforcing Turkey’s commitment to advancing mutual growth and regional stability.

The joint planning session marked a continued alignment of political will and economic interest between the two Mediterranean partners.

As both nations lean into this strategic partnership, the $10 billion target stands as both a challenge and a promise for regional prosperity.
