China has inked multiple agreements with Chad and Senegal during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and promote development in these African nations.
The agreements, spanning various sectors including electricity, infrastructure, water, and communications technology, reflect China’s growing engagement in Africa.
As the world’s largest bilateral lender, China is shifting its focus towards smaller, more sustainable projects in line with President Xi Jinping’s “small and beautiful” approach.
Chad has signed six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Chinese companies, covering energy, water, agriculture, infrastructure, and defense.
These agreements aim to improve access to essential services, enhance infrastructure, and bolster Chad’s military capabilities.
Senegal, too, has entered into several agreements with China, focusing on information and communications technology, green development, and media.
Additionally, China has pledged a significant donation to Senegal to support its development efforts.
These agreements underscore China’s commitment to Africa and its role in driving economic growth and development on the continent.
As China continues to expand its presence in Africa, it is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the region’s future.
