Deepening ties: Somalia, Azerbaijan sign key agreements

In a pivotal move to strengthen bilateral relations, Azerbaijan and Somalia signed a series of agreements on Wednesday. The ceremony, held in Baku, was graced by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The signed documents focus on enhancing cooperation in critical sectors such as public service, green energy, education, and defense. These agreements are poised to create lasting partnerships between the two nations.

Azerbaijan’s Ulvi Mehdiyev and Somalia’s Abdihakim Mohamed Yusuf signed a memorandum to improve public service delivery. This collaboration aims to bring efficiency and innovation to governance in both countries.

In the green energy sector, Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov joined Somali Minister Abdullahi Bidhan Warsame in a memorandum to advance renewable energy initiatives. Their partnership promises to harness sustainable solutions for both nations.

Further strengthening their ties, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Somali counterpart Ahmed Moallim Fiqi signed an education agreement. The pact aims to promote educational exchanges, fostering stronger people-to-people connections.

On the defense front, Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov and Somali Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur formalized a deal to enhance defense cooperation. This includes advancing military collaboration and defense industry development.

These agreements reflect a shared commitment to broadening strategic ties between Azerbaijan and Somalia. They represent a bold step toward future cooperation, with both nations eyeing growth across several critical domains.
