Walt Disney has appointed Tony Chambers as the new president of Disney in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). This appointment is part of a restructuring of the company’s entertainment businesses in the region.
Chambers, who previously served as head of theatrical distribution, will assume his new role in February. In this position, he will oversee a broad range of operations, including streaming, ad sales, studio marketing, theatrical distribution, and sports across the EMEA region.
Chambers will report directly to Disney Entertainment co-chairmen Alan Bergman and Dana Walden, as well as ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro.
Bergman, Walden, and Pitaro issued a joint statement, praising Chambers as “a seasoned senior executive with a highly collaborative style and stellar reputation in EMEA and across the company.” They highlighted his extensive experience within Disney, spanning 30 years.
Prior to his role as head of global film distribution, Chambers served as senior vice president of studio distribution in Europe. He has overseen the distribution of films from all major Disney studios, including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm.
Chambers succeeds Jan Koeppen, who is stepping down from the position of regional lead after six years of service.
