Italy’s energy giant Eni has identified Libya as a crucial country for its upstream activities.
The company plans to begin exploration in the Ghadames Basin next year, according to Martina Opizzi, head of Eni’s North Africa and Levant operations.
Speaking at a panel discussion on Libya’s energy sector in Rome, Opizzi emphasized the importance of Libya in oil and gas production.
She stated that Eni continues to view the country as a region with significant untapped resources.
Opizzi also revealed that the company has plans for offshore exploration in the near future, signaling a broader commitment to the region’s energy potential.
Libya’s oil exports were halted last month due to a standoff between rival political factions over the control of the central bank and oil revenues.
While production has begun to recover since early September, the political dispute remains unresolved.
