Kodal expects Mali permit soon for 27,000 tons lithium export

Kodal Minerals anticipates receiving an export permit soon for 27,000 tons of lithium concentrate from its Mali Bougouni project.

The company previously reported delays due to regulatory hurdles.

These delays occur amidst a global lithium production decline as miners respond to falling prices.

Kodal states discussions with Mali’s government are progressing as planned, expecting the permit shortly.

CEO Bernard Aylward is in Mali reviewing operations, which Kodal reports are continuing normally.

Kodal, which began production in February, will sell its output to China’s Hainan Mining.

Aylward previously noted the company’s inability to export despite production and buyer interest.

Mali, primarily a gold producer, aims to develop its lithium reserves with greater government control over mining.

The military government has recently taken a firmer stance with multinational miners.
