Nigeria has launched its new Utapate crude, targeting long-term buyers and planning to double production by 2025.
Currently producing 40,000 barrels per day (bpd), state-owned NNPC and Natural Oilfield Services aim to reach 80,000 bpd by late 2025.
Five shipments have been made since July, with two more scheduled this year.
Utapate crude, with an API gravity of 44 and low sulfur content, competes with Amenam and Azeri Light grades.
Officials highlight strong interest from European and U.S. refiners.
NNPC projects consistent monthly loadings of 1 million barrels, signaling Nigeria’s push to strengthen its global energy presence.
