Saudi Arabia has cautioned against the “dangerous consequences” of Israel’s ongoing military actions in Lebanon, calling for an immediate cease-fire.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan addressed the issue at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
He emphasized the need to preserve Lebanon’s stability and sovereignty under international law and UN Security Council resolutions.
Prince Faisal condemned Israel’s violations of international law, warning that a lack of accountability only fuels further escalation.
He added that violence will not secure long-term stability for any party involved.
He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting international efforts for an immediate cease-fire to pave the way for a sustainable diplomatic solution in Lebanon.
Calls for a temporary cease-fire have also been echoed by the US, EU, and other nations to facilitate peace efforts between Israel and Hezbollah.
Since September 23, Israeli strikes in Lebanon have killed 816 people and injured over 2,500, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
The ongoing Gaza conflict, which began after a Hamas attack on October 7, has claimed nearly 41,600 lives, mostly women and children.
