Syrian rebels push into Aleppo amid ongoing northwest offensive

Syrian rebel forces have reportedly entered Aleppo, engaging in fierce clashes with regime troops as their “Deter the Aggression” campaign gains momentum. Fighting has been confirmed in Rashidin and Hamadaniyeh neighborhoods, with reports of advances into New Aleppo.

The offensive, aimed at countering Assad, Iranian, and Russian forces, has resulted in the capture of over 50 villages and towns in Aleppo and eastern Idlib. Rebels have also seized strategic areas like the M-5 highway, key to linking Aleppo and Damascus, and are encircling Saraqib, a hub for Iranian fighters.

Pro-Assad defenses have rapidly collapsed, allowing opposition forces to secure significant gains, including weapons and equipment. Despite these advances, Russian airstrikes on rebel-held areas have killed at least 17 civilians.

An Assad regime official denied rebel presence in Aleppo city, claiming reinforcements have bolstered defensive positions. Fighting continues to escalate as the rebels aim to reclaim areas previously emptied of civilians.
