US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that Washington possesses two significantly different sets of intelligence reports concerning Iran, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.
Speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force One, Trump said US intelligence agencies had gathered highly advanced information on Tehran, although some of the material remained classified.
“I have two very different sets of intelligence reports. I have them both. But they’re very different,” Trump said.
The president declined to disclose the contents of the assessments or explain how they differed, but maintained that Washington was making progress in its dealings with Iran.
His remarks come amid mounting concerns over alleged Iranian plots targeting American officials and citizens abroad.
Recent US intelligence assessments have warned that Tehran has intensified efforts to target American personnel, with some alleged operations reaching advanced stages.
The warnings have heightened security concerns across the Middle East, where attacks by Iran-aligned Houthi forces have further complicated the regional security situation.
According to Bloomberg, the escalating threats have prompted Washington to order the departure of certain diplomatic personnel and American citizens from parts of the region.
The developments come as uncertainty continues over Washington’s next steps towards Tehran, with the possibility of renewed military action adding to fears of a wider regional confrontation.
