President Donald Trump said newly reviewed UFO files reveal intriguing material, with initial records expected to be released publicly in the coming weeks.
Speaking in Phoenix at an event hosted by Turning Point USA, Trump told supporters the documents could shed light on longstanding mysteries surrounding aerial phenomena.
“We found many very interesting documents,” Trump said, adding that early disclosures would allow the public to assess whether reported phenomena are credible.
The administration in February ordered U.S. agencies to begin declassifying files related to unidentified flying objects, also known as unidentified aerial phenomena.
Officials cited growing public curiosity and demands for transparency as key reasons behind the decision to open previously classified government archives.
The move revived decades of speculation over unexplained sightings, often linked in popular culture to theories of extraterrestrial life and secret government research.
Trump also said he initiated the review after accusing former president Barack Obama of mishandling sensitive information in public remarks about aliens.
Obama had earlier suggested in a podcast interview that evidence of extraterrestrial life might exist, comments that drew widespread attention and debate.
The forthcoming disclosures are expected to include documents, reports, and internal assessments gathered by intelligence and defence agencies over several decades.
While expectations remain cautious, the anticipated release has already stirred renewed public fascination with the possibility of life beyond Earth.
