Algerian boxer Khelif vows to fight back against IBA lawsuit

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif has denounced “false and offensive” accusations from the International Boxing Association (IBA), vowing to fight back after the IBA announced plans to file criminal complaints against the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The IBA, which has been banned from the Olympics due to concerns about governance and financial irregularities, cited a U.S. executive order on transgender athletes to justify its legal action.

This move further escalated the ongoing conflict between the two organizations, which has had a profound impact on the lives and careers of athletes like Khelif.

Khelif, who was born and raised as a woman, faced intense scrutiny and unfounded speculation about her gender during the Paris Olympics.

Despite these challenges, she persevered and won a gold medal, demonstrating incredible resilience and determination.

The IBA’s actions have not only undermined Khelif’s achievements but also raised serious concerns about the rights and well-being of transgender athletes worldwide.

This case highlights the urgent need for a more inclusive and equitable approach to gender in sports, one that respects the rights and dignity of all athletes.”
