Bosch marks debut century as South Africa dominates Pakistan

Debutant fast bowler Corbin Bosch produced a stunning batting performance, smashing an unbeaten 81, to propel South Africa to a commanding 90-run lead in the first Test against Pakistan.

Bosch’s record-breaking innings, the highest by a No. 9 batter on debut, overshadowed a crucial first-innings collapse as South Africa, resuming on 82-3, were bowled out for 301.

Pakistan, in reply, reached 88-3 at stumps on Day 2, still trailing by two runs.

Saim Ayub (28) and captain Shan Masood (28) provided a brisk start for Pakistan before Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, and Naseem Shah struck to leave the visitors reeling.

Earlier, Aiden Markram (89) anchored South Africa’s innings, but the middle order crumbled after a promising start.

Bosch, however, counterattacked with ferocity, blasting 15 boundaries and sharing crucial partnerships with Rabada and Dane Paterson (14).

The victory in this Test is crucial for South Africa’s hopes of qualifying for the World Test Championship final.
