CAF Champions League: Sundowns draw with FAR Rabat

Mamelodi Sundowns secured their place in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League after a 1-1 draw with FAR Rabat of Morocco.

Namibian striker Peter Shalulile gave Sundowns an early lead, but FAR Rabat’s El Amine Zouhzouh equalized late in the game to deny the South African side a more comfortable victory.

Sundowns, champions in 2016 and semi-finalists in the last two editions, finished second in their group, behind Moroccan club FAR Rabat.

The quarter-finals will feature a strong contingent of African giants, including defending champions Al Ahly, Pyramids of Egypt, Al Hilal of Sudan, Esperance of Tunisia, Mouloudia Alger of Algeria, and Orlando Pirates of South Africa.
