Egypt hosts international marathon with 430 runners in Luxor

The 32nd Egypt International Marathon commenced on Friday in Luxor, Egypt, with the participation of 430 runners representing 45 countries.   

The race began at the iconic Temple of Hatshepsut, a historic site dating back to the pharaonic era, located on the west bank of the Nile River.   

Hesham Abu Zeid, Luxor’s deputy governor, emphasized the significance of the Egypt International Marathon as a key event in the region’s tourism calendar.   

The marathon, one of the oldest sporting events in the Middle East and Africa, plays a crucial role in attracting tourists to the ancient city of Luxor.
