Ghana’s Bukari joins Austin FC as designated player

Austin FC has secured a significant reinforcement for its attacking line, announcing the transfer of Ghanaian international winger Osman Bukari on Thursday.

The 25-year-old Bukari arrives from Serbian powerhouse Red Star Belgrade, signing a 3.5-year guaranteed contract as a Designated Player with an option for an additional year in 2028.

This move comes after Austin FC parted ways with Designated Player Emiliano Rigoni earlier this week, buying out the remainder of his contract.

Bukari boasts an impressive track record, having contributed significantly to Red Star Belgrade’s success in the past two seasons.

During his time with the Serbian club, he amassed 25 goals and 20 assists, playing a key role in their back-to-back Serbian league and cup triumphs.

On the international stage, Bukari has also represented Ghana, featuring in 17 matches and scoring three goals, including one at the 2022 World Cup.

Austin FC Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell expressed his confidence in Bukari’s impact, highlighting his speed, technical ability, and proven goal-scoring prowess.

“We’re confident he will make an immediate impact for us,” Borrell stated.

This acquisition signifies Austin FC’s ambition to bolster their attacking options and potentially challenge for a higher position in the MLS standings.

Bukari’s arrival is expected to add firepower and creativity to the team’s offense.
