LeBron James makes history, surpasses 40,000 career points

LeBron James etched his name even deeper in NBA history on March 2nd, becoming the first player ever to reach 40,000 points in the regular season.

The milestone achievement came during a game against the Denver Nuggets, which unfortunately ended in a 124-114 loss for James’ Los Angeles Lakers.

Despite the team’s defeat, James acknowledged the significance of the moment.

“It’s pretty cool,” he said, reflecting on the league’s rich history and the legendary players who came before him.

“But for me,” James continued, “the main thing is always to win, and I hated that it had to happen in a defeat.”

James’ feat surpasses the previous record held by Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who retired with 38,387 points.

Another Lakers great, Karl Malone, sits at third on the all-time scoring list with 36,928 points.

Interestingly, March 2nd holds another significant record in NBA history.

In 1962, on this very date, the late Wilt Chamberlain famously scored a staggering 100 points in a single regular-season game, a record that remains unbroken to this day.
