Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has been named as the frontrunner for the African Footballer of the Year award.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the five-man shortlist on Monday, November 18th.
Lookman’s impressive performances for both club and country have solidified his position as a top contender.
His hat-trick in the Europa League final for Atalanta and his crucial role in Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations final run have garnered significant attention.
The other nominees include Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra, and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams.
The winner will be determined by a voting process involving national team coaches and a panel of football experts.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 16th.
