Mo Salah to focus on Liverpool, misses Egypt friendlies

Egyptian fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Mohamed Salah back in a Pharaohs jersey.

Head coach Hossam Hassan announced on Sunday that the Liverpool star will not be joining the national team for their upcoming international matches.

Salah will miss the training camp currently taking place in the United Arab Emirates, as well as the friendly games scheduled later this month against Croatia, Tunisia, and New Zealand.

This decision comes after Liverpool requested medical leave for the winger due to a hamstring injury he sustained during the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

The injury has significantly limited Salah’s playing time for his club side.

Since returning from the tournament, he has only managed two brief substitute appearances – one against Brentford in the Premier League and another against Sparta Prague in the Europa League.

With a busy schedule ahead for Liverpool, both the club and the Egyptian Football Federation appear to have prioritized Salah’s recovery, allowing him to focus on regaining full fitness at Anfield.
