Mystery surrounds missing paralympic athletes from DR Congo

The Democratic Republic of Congo has been plunged into a state of anxiety as two of its Paralympic athletes have vanished from Paris.

Shot putter Mireille Nganga and visually impaired sprinter Emmanuel Grace Mouambako, along with a third individual, disappeared on Sept. 5.

The athletes’ suitcases were also missing, but their passports remained with the Congolese delegation.

The Paralympic Committee of the Democratic Republic of Congo has yet to respond to inquiries from the Associated Press.

Nganga and Mouambako, who were the country’s flag bearers at the Paralympic Games, were last seen on Sept. 5.

The French judicial authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.
