Nigeria clinches vital points after Libya no-show

Nigeria has been awarded a 3-0 victory over Libya in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The match was originally scheduled for October 15th but was not played due to a dispute over travel arrangements and treatment of the Nigerian team.

The Nigerian team was stranded at a remote Libyan airport for over 16 hours without access to food or water.

Following this incident, the Nigerian Football Federation refused to play the match, citing safety concerns and mistreatment.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has sided with Nigeria, ruling that Libya violated competition rules by failing to provide adequate arrangements for the visiting team.

As a result, Nigeria has been awarded the match and three crucial points, solidifying their position at the top of Group D.

This decision highlights a recurring issue in African football, where visiting teams often face poor treatment and logistical challenges.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe has acknowledged the problem and has promised to implement stricter regulations to prevent such incidents in the future.
