Nortje returns to South Africa squad for champions trophy

Fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been included in the South Africa squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy one-day international tournament in Pakistan.   

Nortje, who has been recovering from a recent injury, is expected to bolster the South African bowling attack.

The squad also includes Lungi Ngidi, who is returning from a groin injury.   

Ten members of the squad previously participated in the 2023 Cricket World Cup, where they reached the semi-finals.   

South Africa will participate in a triangular series against Pakistan and New Zealand in the lead-up to the Champions Trophy.

South Africa Squad: Temba Bavuma (captain), Tony de Zorzi, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen (wkt), Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton (wkt), Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs, Rassie van der Dussen.   

South Africa Group B Fixtures:

  • February 21: vs. Afghanistan in Karachi
  • February 25: vs. Australia in Rawalpindi
  • March 1: vs. England in Karachi
