Zimbabwe achieved a remarkable milestone in T20 international cricket on Wednesday.
The team posted an impressive score of 344-4 against Gambia during the T20 World Cup Africa Sub Regional Qualifiers.
This new total shattered the previous international record of 314-3, set by Nepal.
The record-breaking match took place in Nairobi, showcasing Zimbabwe’s dominance in the game.
Sikandar Raza was the standout performer for Zimbabwe, scoring 133 not out.
He accomplished this feat off just 43 balls, demonstrating his exceptional batting skills and power.
Raza entered the game in the seventh over, following the fall of the second wicket.
He struck seven fours and an astonishing 15 sixes throughout his innings, captivating fans and teammates alike.
His century came in just 33 balls, tying him for the second-fastest in T20I history.
This achievement puts him alongside Namibia’s Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, who also scored a century in 33 balls.
Despite this impressive performance, Raza’s century remains six balls slower than the fastest record.
Sahil Chauhan holds that record with a 27-ball hundred for Estonia against Cyprus earlier this year.
