A convoy of 50 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid set off from Kilis, Turkey, destined for Sudan, where millions of people are in urgent need due to the ongoing civil war.
The aid, organized by the Human Rights and Freedoms (IHH) Humanitarian Aid Foundation, aims to provide critical relief to the war-torn country.
During a ceremony held at the Kilis Logistics Center, Yakup Alaca, Press Officer of the Kilis Logistics Center, spoke to reporters, emphasizing the severity of the situation in Sudan.
“The civil war that has been going on for over a year in Sudan has caused 25 million people to leave their homes,” Alaca said.
He added that over 9 million of those displaced are children, making the need for assistance even more pressing.
The aid includes 50 containers of food, hygiene products, and shelter materials, which will be transported by trucks to a port, where they will be loaded onto an aid ship organized by IHH and the Kuwait-based KSR institution.
This shipment is part of a larger humanitarian effort, with a total of 150 containers of aid being delivered to Sudan, including contributions from neighboring provinces.
Alaca expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the aid campaign, noting the importance of ongoing support for Sudanese civilians.
“As IHH, we continue to deliver aid to those in need in the region,” he said.
