African Union urges world not to abandon Sudan ceasefire

African Union Commission chair has urged international community not to abandon Sudan and to intensify efforts for ceasefire.

Saying Sudan is in a disastrous situation Mahmoud Ali Youssouf warned media attention is fading amid Middle East conflicts.

Sudan’s civil war entering its fourth year has become one of the world’s worst humanitarian catastrophes.

According to UN reports tens of thousands have been killed and about thirteen million people displaced nationwide.

Despite repeated diplomatic efforts ceasefire attempts and negotiations have largely failed to produce lasting peace.

We know magnitude of crimes and destruction he said urging warring parties to end fighting immediately.

African Union insists that all efforts must converge towards a ceasefire calling it essential for stability.

At Berlin conference Youssouf said gathering could revitalise humanitarian aid and diplomatic momentum to halt hostilities.

He warned Sudan risks being forgotten as global attention shifts to Ukraine Iran and Middle East wars.

Youssouf said proliferation of peace initiatives undermines progress and called for stronger coherence among international efforts.

He highlighted divisions within Sudan’s civilian actors and said African Union will intensify catalytic engagement.

He urged Germany and Europe to sustain humanitarian aid and use political leverage to push ceasefire forward.
