Chad has reinforced its military presence along its eastern border with Sudan, deploying roughly 100 armored vehicles near the town of Tine, a local source told Reuters.
Signal jamming trucks have also been moved into position as forces brace for potential incursions from across the frontier.
A Chadian security source said troops have raised their alert level to the maximum degree available to them.
The same source added that positions are being reinforced with equipment suited to the emerging threat posed by drones.
The buildup follows Chad’s announcement that Sudanese Armed Forces aircraft and drones pursued a convoy inside its territory on August 22.
That incident occurred in the Ennedi region, more than 100 kilometers inside Chadian territory, though no casualties were reported.
The African Union on Wednesday urged all parties to exercise restraint and prevent Sudan’s conflict from spilling across its borders.
The bloc also called for efforts to avoid escalating tensions with neighboring countries amid the widening regional fallout.
