The Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces “Sumud” held talks with IGAD in Addis Ababa to explore ways to end Sudan’s ongoing conflict.
Chaired by Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, the meeting reviewed recent developments in Sudan and considered avenues to support a comprehensive peace process.
IGAD Executive Secretary Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, joined by the organization’s team, highlighted the need for coordinated regional and international efforts to address the crisis.
Discussions centred on IGAD’s role in facilitating political dialogue and aligning the five-party mechanism with the four-party initiative to ensure unified action.
Dr. Gebeyehu reaffirmed IGAD’s commitment to intensifying efforts to halt hostilities and create conditions for inclusive political negotiations.
Both sides stressed that the conflict cannot be solved militarily and requires a negotiated solution tackling its root causes.
The meeting forms part of wider regional and international efforts to guide Sudanese parties toward a lasting political settlement.
