Dagalo blames Burhan, Islamists for prolonging Sudan war

RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) said Sudan’s war must end quickly as it enters its fourth year, declaring readiness for an immediate ceasefire if all sides commit.

Speaking in South Darfur, he accused General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army and the Muslim Brotherhood of prolonging the conflict since 2023 and controlling political decisions.

He claimed opposing forces aim to continue the war for years, while saying RSF units remain deployed near Omdurman and active around the capital.

Hemedti said his forces are focused on removing Islamist influence and insisted any settlement must address the root causes of the war.

Sudan remains in a severe humanitarian crisis, with millions displaced and repeated peace efforts failing.
