The death toll from General al-Burhan’s forces (SAF) plane crash in a residential area near Omdurman has risen to 46, with a senior commander among the victims, the Khartoum state media office reported.
The crash occurred late Tuesday night near Wadi Sayidna military airport in northern Omdurman, just outside the capital.
The SAF confirmed that both military personnel and civilians were killed in the incident, although further details have yet to be provided. Military sources indicated that technical issues were the likely cause of the crash. In addition to the fatalities, at least 10 people were injured.
Among those killed was Major General Bahr Ahmed, a senior commander who had previously been responsible for overseeing SAF operations in the capital.
