Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty held talks with British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper during the Egyptian-British Partnership Council meeting in Cairo.
A major focus of the discussions was the ongoing conflict in Sudan and its humanitarian consequences.
Abdel-Aty outlined Egypt’s efforts to support dialogue between Sudan’s rival parties and promote a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
He stressed the need for a lasting ceasefire to help protect civilians and ease humanitarian suffering.
The discussions took place during the council’s third session, which oversees cooperation on security and economic issues.
The ministers also reviewed wider regional challenges, including maritime security concerns in the Middle East.
