Egypt and US discuss Sudan crisis and push for humanitarian truce

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty discussed Sudan’s worsening crisis with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a phone call focused on growing regional instability.

The talks centred on international efforts to secure a humanitarian truce in Sudan as a first step toward a lasting ceasefire following months of destructive conflict.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said Washington praised Cairo’s diplomatic efforts to support negotiations aimed at restoring stability in the country.

He also welcomed coordination within the Quartet Mechanism addressing the Sudan file, describing it as an effective platform for guiding future diplomatic engagement.
