French President Emmanuel Macron said diplomatic efforts to end the war in Sudan have intensified, with what he described as a growing international consensus around peace and expanded humanitarian support.
During a visit to Addis Ababa, Macron met ambassadors and special envoys working on Sudan, focusing on possible pathways toward a political settlement.
Discussions centred on de-escalation, improved coordination among international partners, and strengthening mediation efforts, alongside urgent humanitarian responses as conditions continue to deteriorate.
An expanded meeting in Addis Ababa brought together France, Germany, Italy, and Canada, with participants aiming to increase pressure to help bring an end to the conflict.
Macron also noted rising global awareness of Sudan’s humanitarian crisis, pointing to increasing displacement, mounting casualties, and the continued collapse of essential services.
He added that diplomatic momentum is building alongside repeated UN warnings over worsening conditions and ongoing violations against civilians across conflict zones in Sudan.
