Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan is furious over US terrorist label

The Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan is furious over the US terrorist designation, calling it politically motivated.

Ayad Muhammad al-Balla, the group’s political officer, denied receiving Iranian support or maintaining any armed organisation.

US senior advisor Massad Boulos said Iran’s Revolutionary Guard trained fighters linked to the group and cited prior sanctions.

Washington said the designation freezes the group’s assets, blocks access to the US financial system, and warned of sanctions for dealings.

The move underscores Sudan’s fragile security environment, where internal conflict intersects with regional rivalries and terrorism allegations.
