New videos expose SAF violations against civilians in Gezira state

Activists have shared new videos on social media revealing ongoing abuses by General al-Burhan’s forces (SAF) and their jihadist allies against civilians in Al Jazeera (Gezira) state.

These violations, reportedly carried out under the accusation that the civilians are aiding the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), have sparked widespread outrage.

One video depicts soldiers beating an agricultural worker from the village of Canabi, accusing him of collaborating with the RSF. In another, soldiers forcibly load several civilians into a military vehicle, labeling them “RSF collaborators.”

The footage shows the soldiers celebrating and mocking the victims while committing acts of assault and arrest.

The circulation of these videos has raised alarm over the continued abuse of civilians in Al Jazeera (Gezira) state, especially after the SAF entered the region, which had been under RSF control for nearly two years.

Following the RSF’s withdrawal to the outskirts of Al Jazeera, there has been a significant increase in violations committed by the SAF as tensions between the two warring factions intensify.

Residents of Canabi, many of whom are impoverished agricultural workers, have been disproportionately targeted and victimized by SAF.

These marginalized communities are often accused of supporting one faction or the other, leading to repeated assaults.

Human rights organizations and advocates for peace are urging the international community to initiate independent investigations into these violations and hold perpetrators accountable.
