A series of airstrikes targeting Sudan’s South Darfur capital of Nyala over the past week reportedly killed and wounded civilians and fighters, as local sources pointed to the arrival of new logistical supplies into the city.
The strikes, believed to have been carried out by drones linked to General al-Burhan’s SAF, targeted Nyala International Airport as well as warehouses and positions used by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the industrial district known locally as “Al-Qasharat” and several neighborhoods in central Nyala.
Witnesses and local sources told Darfur24 that one strike on Wednesday hit Nyala International Airport, killing three RSF fighters stationed inside the facility and destroying several combat vehicles.
Residents also reported civilian casualties, including women, after a separate strike hit the Cinema district in central Nyala.
Other witnesses said funeral ceremonies were held in southern parts of the city for one of the fighters reportedly killed in the airport strike during the previous week.
According to local residents, Nyala witnessed eight drone sorties over an eight-day period, during which around 17 missiles were launched.
Multiple local sources said the air campaign has focused primarily on the industrial area and Nyala airport, while also targeting homes belonging to RSF officers in central and northern neighborhoods.
Military sources within the RSF told Darfur24 that logistical supplies reached Nyala earlier this month via large trucks arriving from a neighboring country, though no further details were provided on the origin or contents of the shipments.
A source within the RSF had previously indicated that commanders in Nyala imposed tighter security measures among officers amid the escalating strikes.
Nyala has taken on increasing political significance after the Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) designated the city as the administrative capital of the government it announced earlier this year. The city has since seen heightened political activity following the arrival of senior alliance figures.
