Quad should brand Brotherhood, Bashir’s party terrorists, says Hamdok

Abdullah Hamdok, head of the Civil Democratic Forces Alliance (Taqqadum/“Samoud”) and Sudan’s former prime minister, said the U.S.-Egypt-Saudi-UAE Quad’s statement aligns with his bloc’s vision to end the war through a political settlement, preserve Sudan’s unity and exclude the Muslim Brotherhood from a transition.

Speaking to local outlet “Mashawir,” Hamdok called on the Quad to designate Sudan’s Islamic Movement and the National Congress Party as terrorist organizations, arguing the Brotherhood’s role now mirrors groups like al-Qaeda and Islamic State.

He said social media narratives from Sudan do not reflect the broader public, adding that many citizens are imprisoned by Brotherhood-aligned forces for advocating an end to the war. Hamdok said few issues unite Sudanese as strongly as rejection of the Brotherhood-era system.
