Red Crescent food aid begins new phase in Khartoum

The Sudanese Red Crescent’s Khartoum State branch has launched the third phase of its public kitchen support project, aiding local hospices.

The initiative, backed by the Danish Red Cross, began at Suhanda Abdel Wahab Hospices under Secretary-General Professor Aida Al-Sayed Abdullah, coinciding with World Food Security Day.

Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Ali, director of the Khartoum branch, said the phase targets 12 hospices across Karari, Omdurman, and Ombada, starting with a major facility on Al Wadi Street.

He praised humanitarian activist Suhanda Abdel Wahab for providing food, medicine, water, and women’s empowerment projects, highlighting her lasting impact on vulnerable communities.

Dr. Ali thanked international supporters, the association’s secretariat and volunteers for sustaining the organisation’s relief efforts in the city.

He also acknowledged journalists for covering Red Crescent activities and confirmed that the “Supporting Tekayas” project’s third phase will continue, reaching all remaining hospices.
