The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have condemned recent acts of violence in Wad Madani and surrounding villages in Sudan’s Al-Jazirah State, alleging that elements of General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) and affiliated militias have conducted extrajudicial executions based on ethnic and regional grounds.
According to the RSF, over the past two days, more than 137 individuals have been killed in these areas. They accuse units such as the Special Action Forces, Sudan Shield, and Bara Brigades—groups linked to the security apparatus and remnants of the previous regime—of carrying out these field executions.
The RSF claims that video evidence shows perpetrators in official SAF uniforms engaging in indiscriminate shootings, leading to a state of lawlessness in Wad Madani and its suburbs.
These allegations emerge amid ongoing conflict between the SAF and the RSF, which began in April 2023. The fighting has resulted in a severe humanitarian crisis, with over 12 million people displaced and half of the population facing hunger.
The SAF recently recaptured Wad Madani from the RSF, marking a significant development in the nearly two-year civil war.
Rights groups and political factions have also reported incidents in Al-Jazirah State. The Emergency Lawyers group stated that the village of Kambo Tayba in the Um Al-Qura locality experienced attacks by the SAF and allied militias, resulting in the deaths of 13 people, including two children, and the arrest of civilians and women.
They assert that these actions are part of ethnically motivated campaigns targeting groups accused of collaborating with the RSF, particularly residents of informal settlements known as “Alkanabi.”
The RSF has called on the Sudanese populace to remain vigilant against what it describes as conspiracies by the terrorist Islamic Movement (Sudanese Muslim Brotherhood), which it accuses of instigating the war to retain power.
The RSF asserts that it possesses sufficient evidence to hold this organization accountable for crimes committed in Al-Jazirah State, including deliberate sowing of sedition and acts of genocide.
The RSF emphasizes its commitment to continue operations until state institutions are restored and what it refers to as the “bloody gang’s” dominance over the Sudanese people is ended, aiming for the establishment of a state characterized by peace, justice, and good governance.
