RSF areas set for civilian government announcement

A source reported on Sunday the arrival of a delegation from Sudan’s Foundational Alliance, known as “Tasees,” in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state.

The move is part of efforts to announce a civilian government in RSF-controlled areas, aimed at bolstering the alliance’s political influence in the region.

In an exclusive statement to Darfur24, an official from the RSF’s civilian administration in South Darfur confirmed that all necessary procedures for the government’s announcement have been completed. The city of Nyala will serve as the launch point for this announcement.

The official also noted that the civilian administration had carried out comprehensive maintenance on government headquarters and guesthouses, underscoring efforts to welcome government members and ensure smooth operations in Nyala.

Additional facilities in the area, including the Social Security Hotel and other key infrastructure east of the city near the airport, have been prepared to host the government. These measures reflect the RSF’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for government activities, which could help stabilize the region and facilitate political dialogue.

Sources also revealed that the “Tasees” delegation arrived in Nyala from Nairobi, Kenya, at the end of last week. The delegation includes key figures from the alliance, such as Mohamed Hassan Al-Tayishi, a former member of Sudan’s Sovereign Council.

It is anticipated that the civilian government will announce developments regarding its formation later this month, with Nyala serving as the venue for this declaration.

The RSF, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North, and the Sudan Liberation Movement have reached an agreement with the Transitional Council and the Sudanese Liberation Forces regarding an interim constitution, following the signing of a political charter that includes the formation of the “Tasees” alliance.

On Saturday, the Umma Party in South Darfur organized a workshop on the Sudanese Foundational Alliance and the 2025 Interim Constitution. Hafiz Omar, the party’s secretary in South Darfur, emphasized the party’s continued efforts to promote peace, stability, democratic practices, transparency, and the rule of law.

Omar further noted that South Darfur is preparing for a surge in activities in the coming days, with readiness to host delegations arriving from both within Sudan and abroad, in line with the status of peacebuilders and change-makers.
