The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have announced the capture of Habiba in Sudan’s Al-Jazeera state, claiming a significant advance against General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) positions in the region.
In a statement released on Friday, the RSF said they had seized military vehicles, weapons, and ammunition while eliminating what they described as “ISIS fighters and mercenaries.”
The Sudanese group pledged to continue operations to “fully liberate the country” and restructure Sudan on principles of “freedom, peace, and justice.”
The capture of Habiba marks the latest RSF advance in Al-Jazeera, where the group has been consolidating control since seizing the state capital, Wad Madani, in December.
The ongoing offensive underscores the deepening conflict between the RSF and the SAF, which has devastated the region and displaced thousands.
The SAF has yet to comment on the RSF’s claims.
