RSF condemns deadly SAF airstrikes in Darfur, calls for accountability

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Saturday condemned what it described as a “barbaric assault” by foreign warplanes and General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) on the towns of Al-Kuma and Kabkabiya in North Darfur.

In a statement, the RSF reported that the attacks caused significant civilian casualties, with dozens killed and injured. The strikes also destroyed key infrastructure, including water resources, leaving widespread devastation.

Sudanese group strongly denounced the bombings, stating the targeted areas lacked any military presence and accusing SAF of committing war crimes in violation of international humanitarian law.

RSF statement called for accountability and punishment for those responsible.

The RSF expressed unwavering solidarity with the innocent civilians affected, offering heartfelt condolences to the families of those lost. “This calculated atrocity, carried out under the orders of the SAF’s illegitimate and treacherous leadership, is an affront to all principles of humanity and justice,” the statement read.

Furthermore, the RSF called on the international community, human rights organizations, and all voices of conscience to join in denouncing this unprovoked act of terrorism against innocent civilians.
